Artistic Polar Bear Challenge: 100 Ways In 100 Days. #85 - Zentangle

I didn't even realize that Zentangle was an art form. I thought it was just what you doodled on a pad of paper while talking on the phone.  My thanks to talented multimedia artist Cynthia Schelzig for this suggestion.

 Zentangle Bear

I felt a little stuck at first because I was actually trying to focus on what to do.  The further along the drawing went, the more I let go, and the easier it became.  A great loosening up exercise.

Great idea. Isn't doodling relaxing? Okay, we won't call it doodling since zentangle is an art form but didn't we all do on our that on our Pee Chees when we were supposed to be listening in English class? I wish I had all of those old folders. I'm sure some of them were real masterpieces. I'm really dating myself now.

When you started this project, I really didn't think you would be able to come up with 100 different ways to tackle this subject but you are surprising me over and over again. You're almost done. I can't wait to see what's next.

This has a lot of appeal. All the lines and shapes work well, making it look simple but complex too.

I recall doing a similar exercise with some kids in an art class and we added colour to the piece. They were wild images.

Your ideas for creating art with this bear seem neverending.

Hi Nancy. Your comment brought back floods of memories of all the time I spend 'Zentangling' in class. I'd take notes, but the margins would be filled with doodles. And of course back then our only choice was ball point pens, which would tear through the paper if applied heavily enough. I'm really dating myself, too. Thanks for the stroll down Long Ago Memories Lane.
I wasn't sure I could come up with 100 ideas either. I made sure I had a list of viable options before I even started. :)

Much thanks, Jeanette. I recall coloring large, funky, black and white posters with markers in my younger days. The posters were so big that several friends could work on it at once, and it took weeks, if not longer to complete it. We took turns taking the completed ones home and hanging them on our walls. Hmmmm...another memory lane stroll today.

WOW! You really got into this one and created some amazing things in this one. I'd like to see you do another and see what you come up with.

This one really made me pause! It is fun and fantastic. Your creativity amazes me - this is still "fresh" and it is your 85th time painting this guy! :)
